Kiyomizu-dera

Yet another USECO World Heritage Site..! On the way to the top, you have to pass by a preserved street where you can buy A LOT (good!) of souvenirs (the food-type ones are good, mostly). You can buy some of these in many tourist places in Kyoto too. I highly recommend the green tea baum cake. The cover of the box is white with a Japanese character (word). The cake is circular and is green and yellow (like.. beige-yellow… sorry, I’m limited with the fancy colour names). I think it costs around ¥1500.

Back to the destination. It’s a walk up and there’s an entrance fee (around a ¥100) if you go inside further. I guess I was able to take some nice pictures because of the sunset.

Also, there are Japanese people wearing kimonos walking around too. Many tourists would try to take their picture thinking that they’re “geisha”—- but they’re just regular people who are wearing kimonos. Nonetheless, it would still look like an authentic-japan-trip picture.

Hello! My name is Vern M. I am a current college student at Alma College in Alma, MI.
I am in the beginning works of my photography and enjoy using my Nikon D3000 and my Olympus OM-D 35mm film camera to showcase my work. I enjoy capturing those things that catch interest out of the corner of my eye. I use photography as a tool to view my travels and personal interest in the world.
The photo I have attached is titled, “Monitored” and was taken in the museum of a Stazi Prison in Berlin, Germany. The photo is to commemorate all of those who were once trapped and monitored under soviet-occupied Germany.
I use my tumblr purely to showcase my own works:

This image is from a series under the title of ‘Facade’ which studies industrial spaces at night.
Through these images I wanted to highlight the way industry includes false elements of nature in the vicinity of these vast structures and spaces. I wanted to show how peoples perceptions of these environments may be skewed by the inclusion of these small sections of life in an otherwise rigid and fabricated landscape.
